Buying water treatment media from China

The product is not complicated. The purchase is. This page sets out what a buyer should be able to obtain before paying a deposit, and what we send without being asked.

What we send before a deposit

DatasheetPer product, with the published parameter table: size range, specific surface, porosity, material and service life
QuotationUnit and total price against the specification, quantity and destination port, with the incoterm named
DrawingsModule dimensions for settling media, grid layouts for diffusers, connection details where they matter
SamplesCarrier samples or a single settling module on request; freight at cost
Packing planCarton or pallet count, volume, gross weight and container loading estimate for the ordered quantity
ComplianceMaterial declaration against the requirement you name. Where a market requires a specific declaration, name it in the enquiry and it is answered in writing, not assumed

If a supplier cannot produce the packing plan before the order, the container will be badly loaded and the freight will be higher than the quotation implied. That is true of every media supplier, not only Chinese ones.

Factory or trader: the questions that show it

Ask for the specific surface and porosity of the exact grade quoted. A trader quotes the product class; a factory quotes the grade it runs. Compare the answer with the published table on the product page.

Ask how the quantity is verified. For carriers, pieces per cubic metre; for settling media, module count per cubic metre of installed volume; for packing, pieces per cubic metre at the nominal size. A supplier who answers "by weight" is quoting a material, not a media.

Ask what happens on a quality claim. The answer should name a physical check: weighing a carrier sample against the published mass, measuring a module against the drawing, or a settling test on a delivered module. Vague assurances are not a quality system.

Ask for the freight basis. Media is bulky and light. The difference between a well-packed 40′ HC and a badly packed one is several thousand dollars of freight on the same tonnage, so the packing plan is part of the price.

What we do not do

We do not publish prices for a reason: the same module in polypropylene and in ethylene-propylene copolymer is two products with a service life that differs by more than double, and a price list would push buyers toward the wrong one. We quote against your specification, and we tell you when the specification is over-engineered for the duty.

We do not quote treatment results for your plant. Removal efficiency depends on the water, the design and the operation; the media sets the surface area and the hydraulic behaviour, and that is what our published figures describe.

Frequently asked

What is the minimum order quantity?

For carriers and packing, a single pallet is a normal trial order. For settling media, one module is possible but the freight makes it uneconomic; the practical minimum is the volume that fills a pallet or a part container. Tell us the trial volume and we will quote it honestly rather than pushing the full container.

Which documents come with the shipment?

Commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading as standard, plus the datasheet for the supplied grade and the packing plan that was agreed. Where the destination requires a certificate of origin or a specific material declaration, it is arranged against the requirement named in the enquiry.

How long does production take?

Standard media grades are produced to order. The lead time depends on quantity and grade and is stated in the quotation - we do not quote a lead time before the quantity is fixed, because a container order and a pallet order do not run on the same schedule.

How do I verify quality on arrival?

Three physical checks cover most of it: weigh a sample against the published mass per piece or per cubic metre, measure a module or a carrier against the drawing, and confirm the quantity by count against the packing list. If a check fails, that is the moment to raise it, with the sample retained.

Send the specification and the destination port

You will get a quotation against your specification, the packing plan, and a datasheet for the exact grade quoted.
