Degassing packing is a three-dimensional mesh packing for degassing, decarbonation and stripping towers. Each element is an extruded HDPE diamond-mesh cylinder: mostly opening, with a wide wetted surface. Water falls through the bed as thin films and droplets while air rises through the same open structure, so dissolved gases leave the water at a low pressure drop.

Why this media

Where water and air
meet, without the resistance

In a degassing tower the packing has one job: put as much water surface as possible in front of the air stream, and let both pass through the bed at the lowest possible cost in fan pressure.

A large, renewed wetted surface

The mesh strands break the falling water into films and droplets that cling to the element. As the water travels down the bed the surface is continually renewed, so the air is always meeting fresh water rather than the same depleted film.

Low resistance to airflow

The elements are almost entirely open space, so air moves up through the bed with little obstruction and the blower only has to overcome a modest pressure drop. The same open structure lets the water pass down freely instead of ponding above the bed.

Elements are supplied in the standard size and produced to order for a specific tower diameter, bed depth and support arrangement. Send the tower drawing and the duty, and we will confirm the element size, the quantity and the packing.
