Filter Bed Distribution

ABS Filter
Nozzle

Filter nozzles — also called strainer nozzles or water caps — are the distribution elements fixed into the filter plate of a gravity or pressure filter. Each ABS nozzle forms one flow path between the plenum and the media bed: filtered water passes down through the slots during service, and backwash water and air are spread evenly upward across the whole plate area.

Why this nozzle

Even flow across
the whole plate

A filter nozzle has to do two things at once: retain the media and spread the flow. Slot opening and slot layout are what decide both, and both are set for your plate rather than fixed on this page.

01

Moulded ABS body

The head and the body are moulded in ABS, so there is no metal part standing in the water and air stream to corrode and no coating to wear through. The nozzle carries the repeated mechanical load of backwash without deforming.

02

Even water and air distribution

Nozzles are set out across the whole plate, so service flow, backwash water and backwash air are distributed across the bed area instead of channelling through one part of it — which is what protects the media bed from short-circuiting.

03

Matched to your plate

Tower, mushroom, long-handle, short-handle, double-head and adjustable designs are available, so a nozzle can match an existing plate tapping and plate thickness. Slot width, thread, head size and length are confirmed per order.
