A monolithic reinforced concrete filter plate poured in place in the filter tank, with the filter nozzle sockets set out in the formwork and embedded during the pour — one continuous filter floor for water and air distribution, with no joints between separate plates.

Cast-in-place construction removes the inter-plate joints and the plate-by-plate levelling that assembled precast filter bottoms require — the two details that need the most attention on an air-scour filter floor.
The plate is poured as one continuous slab in the filter tank, so the nozzle deck has no joints between plates to seal and no individual plates to level and re-level after backwash.
Sockets are set out and fixed to the formwork before the pour, so they are cast in at the design grid spacing and at a common level; nozzles are fitted into the cast-in sockets after curing and can be replaced one by one.
The slab is reinforced for water backwash and air-scour loads and cast continuous around the tank perimeter, so the filter bottom works as a single structural element instead of separate plates that can lift or rock.
